Laura Mercier is known for her best selling her translucent loose setting powder. It has been a holy grail product and fan favourite forever.
Since gaining that credibility, Laura Mercier has put out some innovative products including her tinted moisturizer. If you haven’t used a tinted moisturizer before, you’ll know that it can replace about 3 steps in your daily makeup routine.
However, there are some things you have to know about the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer that may shock you.
Laura Mericer Tinted Moisturizer Packaging
I always start with the packaging in any makeup review. I find that the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer packaging is not so great because it comes in this really messy tube. Also, the tube is meant to stand up but I find that the product rushes to the tip of the tube and then seems to just fly out when you apply it. If you’ve seen any testers in Sephora you’ll know that the product has oozed out on the sides and doesn’t make for a very clean look.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Swatches
I’m going to display the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Swatches here but before you get too excited, continue to read my review below to decide if you really want this product.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Formula
I tried this product and I tried to love it but I found that the actual product flaked off the more I rubbed it in. I usually use a tinted moisturizer in the summer because I don’t like to wear foundation. When I rubbed it in, I started getting these flakes on my skin that was basically the tinted moisturizer sitting on top of the skin and not being able to be rubbed in. Also, found that this product became patchy and didn’t go on smoothly. It for SURE didn’t help to apply any sort of blush or bonzer on top because of the poor quality of this product.
It didn’t set into the skin like I had hoped it would and I find that it was grossly over hyped.
Laura Mercia actually created an oil free tinted moisturizer which is great for oily or acne prone skin. You could check it out because I feel that you may not get as much as a greasy pay off as the regular Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Final Thoughts
If you just read that paragraph above, you’ll know that I am not the biggest fan of this product. I do like other products from Laura Mercier but I don’t think any of them are innovative enough to tempt me to shop her line when there are so many better makeup counters available.
This isn’t a good review in case you thought it would be. Whenever I do makeup reviews I always seek to be very honest. Also, when you’re paying Canadian dollars for products that start out in the United States, I always am careful where I spend my money on luxury goods. I try makeup out so you don’t have to and I spend my hard earned money on makeup so you don’t have to!
Other Tinted Moisturizers You Should Try Instead
Instead of the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, there are other tinted moisturizers that are a better buy. For example, I’ve spoken a lot about the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream (read the review here), which has an SPF of 15. It’s also only $37.00 so you’re saving some money and some headache by not choosing Laura Mercier.
Bobbi Brown BB Cream is another solid pick at $57.00 it is a bit pricey but what I love about it is the SPF 35. Like I said, I use tinted moisturizers in the summertime so if you can get one that has an SPF in it then that is a bonus.
It is a bit more expensive and isn’t as well known in this space but it is perfect for a hint of glow, doesn’t crease in fine lines and they say it has something called liquid mirror particles which is a fatigue fighting element that diffuses the light and infuses the complexion with a crystal glow. I haven’t tried this product but anything by Giorgio Armani is usually of the highest quality.
