If you’re looking for a makeup remover oil that is more like a cleansing balm, look no further than the Dermalogica Precleanse. It should be the first step in your skincare routine. You may be wondering why you would want to clean your face with oil and what the benefits are. Cleaning your face with oil helps with not stripping your face of its natural oils. It does not mean that your face will be oily afterward, which is why you will need double cleanse. The Dermalogica Precleanse melts away makeup and impurities from your skin as a first start. It takes away layers of excess oil, water-proof makeup and even sunscreen! You’ll need to follow up with a cleanser but keep reading to find out the ultimate process to cleaning your skin with oil!
Dermalogica Precleanse Review
How to Use the Dermalogica Precleanse
The Precleanse is just that – it is supposed to be used before you cleanse. This is what is known as a “double cleanse”. A double clense means that you ultimtely use two types of cleansers. Usually, the first one is a balm or makeup remove and the secondary cleanser is a more traditional one. You can read about my review of the Special Gel Cleanser from Dermalogica which is what I use after the Precleanse.
The way you use the Dermalogica Precleanse is on a dry face full of makeup.
- 1 Pump of the Dermalogica Precleanse on dry hands (and tie back your hair).
- Rub it in your hands to warm it up and rub onto your face and massage in. You’re going to use the Precleanse to massage on your eye area as well which eliminates the need for a cotton pad. Don’t forget to close your eyes! You’ll start to see a milky emulsion come from the product which is going to help break down the dirt and oil found in your skin.
- Rinse off with water and prepare for the next part in your cleansing routine which is the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel.
- You’ll need to do another cleaning of your skin with this gel so that you make sure to not leave your skin feeling like it is oily. This will help you get the deep cleansing that will come out of using these products. You’ll thank me later!
If you follow these steps using Dermalogica consistently, you’ll start seeing professional cleansing results. Using the Dermalogica Cleanser will amp up your skin care game to the fullest!
Results of the Dermalogica Precleanse
After I use the Precleanse, I feel that my face is relatively clean and the product has not stripped my skin of its natural oils. I have gone without double cleansing and just using the Precleanse before but it is not recommended because ultimately, you’ve only removed your makeup but you haven’t actually cleansed your pores.
Using the Dermalogica Precleanse almost makes me look forward to my night time routine. I love the way it feels on my skin and it really does the job. If you’re looking for a makeup melter or cleansing oil, I highly recommend the Dermalogica Precleanse.
Don’t forget that if you’re going to use a particular skincare brand, it’s probably a good idea to stick within that same brand or line. Click here to read about the rest of my reviews from Dermalogica.
Dermalogica Precleanse vs Precleanse Balm
You may be wondering how the Dermalogica Precleanse differs from the Precleanse Balm. The Precleanse balm is a solid formula that turns into an oil so you can do the exact same thing. It also usually comes with a scrubber to help work the balm into the skin. The Precleanse is a simpler application because you don’t need the scrubber.
The reviews on Sephora Canada website is that the Precleanse Balm makes your skin feel really soft which the regular Dermalogica Precleanse does but I think this is a different feeling.
Dermalogica Precleanse Ingredients
There are many healthy ingredients that can be found in the Dermalogica Precleanse. My favourite ingredients are the Mandarin Orange Peel Oil and the combination of Citrus and Lavendar extracts.
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Extract, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Decyl Olive Esters, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Citral, Limonene, Linalool, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben.
