Lipstick Trends 2018

Lipstick Trends 2018 are going to shock you.  As mentioned in my post talking about Beauty Trends 2018, matte lips are out and glossy lips are hot in 2018.  Let’s go alittle deeper to talk about new lipstick trends 2018 and some new brands that are hot on the scene.

I recently went in to my local Sephora and found they had a new lip kit called “Give Me Some New Lip”.  It had two full sized lipsticks one from Marc Jacobs Beauty and the second from Smashbox, along with a few other deluxe samples that are making my lippies tingle with joy!

Let’s take a look at the new Lipstick Trends 2018 :

Super Glossy and Sparkly Lipgloss

Have you met Huda Beauty yet? Huda beauty is a line that was developed by Huda Kattan and her sister from Dubai.  She has 8 million followers on Instagram and is a beauty mogul that a lot of us love to follow.  She created her own beauty line that can be described as a mix between Kylie Cosmetics and NARS.  The packaging is very similar and the emphasis on lips is quite bold.

The deluxe sample I received in my lip kit from Sephora is Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in Snobby.

The pink sparkles aren’t flat, they are holographic and textured.  I don’t feel clown-y wearing this lipstick, rather I find I need less eye and face makeup when I wear this.  This is perfect for throwing in your gym bag if you don’t have time for a face full of makeup.

Full disclosure: I wore this to the gym just to see the reaction I would get from my husband and he thought it was hilarious.

Metallic Lipstick for 2018

Smashbox Always On Metallic Matte in XO, Vlada is the lip colour in this kit that I find the most complicated to wear. I never thought I would wear this colour during the day but I tried it on and thought it looked edgy but was more of a night time colour.  This lippy is more outgoing than I would’ve liked.  However, metallic lips are going to be in style for 2018 so don’t be afraid to make a bold statement.

I also layered the Huda beauty Gloss on top of the Smashbox Metallic Matte for a strong holographic vibe.  My husband liked this pairing also – ha!

Dusty Rose Lipstick

The Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Liquid Lip Crayon in Night Mauves is perfect for daytime wear.  A few swipes of the lip starts out creamy and feels like satin upon applying.  It dries like a liquid lipstick which turns matte but doesn’t dry out your lips.  The Night Mauves colour is the perfect transition from winter to spring as well.

Plump Berry Balm

treStiQue Mini Plumping Lip Balm in Barbados Berry is my new go to this winter (Link to Sephora’s selection of treStiQue). This little stubby applicator puzzled me at first.  Are you aware of the eos lip balms? treStiQue lip balm is shaped like a ball so it makes quick applications a breeze.  Also, it is so moisturizing that it really protects my lips in this frigid cold.  The colour is definitely a berry but acts like a stain.  Stained lipsticks 2018 are definitely making a come back.

Bright Pink Lipstick

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Candy Venom is the last piece of our lip kit.  This is a deluxe mini but the power of this colour is enough to brighten up a room.  Rihanna’s new Fenty line has taken Sephora by storm with the range of foundation colours available for all skin tones.  The Rihanna Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Candy Venom lasts all day, trust me.  Even when I applied makeup remover, I found there was a lasting stain that I kind of liked.

You’ll see from the swatch the Candy Venom colour goes on evenly and leaves a creamy, yet matte finish.  This is key because you get the matt look without your lips drying out.  Check out the swatch for more details.

As you can see from this entire lip kit, lipstick trend 2018 are about bold lips.  You shouldn’t be afraid to put your best lip forward and strive for lips that draw attention.
