If you’ve ever wonder what Hourglass products are for – you are not alone. I used to read so many reviews and watch videos before I bit the bullet and purchased the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light.
This powder is NOT a highlighter. I cannot stress that enough. Rather, this lighting power line is a finishing powder, similar to a Laura Mercia Candlelight Glow Powder (read review here).
As you can see from the swatches, it’s not very pigmented so that’s why it doesn’t work as a highlighter.
The Hourglass ambient lighting powder is also meant to set your makeup and get you camera ready. I find that when I use this and say, take a ton of Instagram selfies, my skin looks more flawless.
There are highlighters that Hourglass puts out and even palettes of lighting and highlighting but consumers must be careful because they do so many different things. I also tried the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in mood light which is a sheer soft pink. I took that one back to Sephora because my skin tone has pink under tones – it made my whole face PINK.
Another way to use this product from Hourglass is to use it on top of a primer. The Becca First Light Priming Filter Face is one of the best primers that adds a sheen to any look. If you’re short on time, use the primer first to set your glow and then use the Hourglass ambient lighting power to set.
I swear by this product and know that when I finish it, I’ll be picking it up again. You can purchase this beauty at Sephora. There’s also a mini size that they offer so you don’t have to spend the money up front if you’re not sure if this product will work for you.
