I wanted to take a moment out of writing beauty reviews to bring my readers a perspective of what I think about before I purchase makeup and other cosmetics. In my own words, the idea of a “cult-like” following in the beauty and fashion world is defined as being a part of an inner club of products that can do no wrong. You’ll do anything to get them and those who have them, have a special bond vs. those who are not “in-the-know”.
In short, I like to think of cult eyeshadow palettes as the staples that beauty gurus keep going back to time after time. You will know which brands have cult eyeshadow palettes when you’re trying to get your hands on one and have to wait until the next shipment from Sephora :). Think about that one for a few.
I LOVE new technology especially in makeup and beauty but sometimes, beauty brands get carried away by “new and now” and forget about usability and quality. Here are some of the cult eyeshadow palettes that I think should not be overlooked:
1. Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette by Too Faced
This palette combines nudes with peaches and pops of pink for an all season look. The reason why this palette has a cult following is because the range of the colours is so flattering on all skin tones and the pigmentation is extremely blendable. These two characteristics make this a go-to eyeshadow palette that never gets old. You can purchase the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette by Too Faced here.
2. Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette
Coming in a close second is my all time favourite eyeshadow palette, the original tartelette Amazonian clay matte palette. (I had to put the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette in #1 because in the beauty community I truly believe it is the one with the most recognition).
This palette is the PERFECT neutral eyeshadow palette that you can create a look using all vertical and diagonal lines. My favourite shades in the palette are ‘Super Mom’ with ‘Natural Beauty’ in the crease. To achieve the perfect look make sure you use a round eyeshadow brush for the crease so you get that nice shadow look. You can purchase the Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette here.
3. Urban Decay Naked Palette
You can’t talk about cult eyeshadow palettes without Urban Decay, whom in my opinion started this whole craze. The even call their eyeshadow palettes iconic and ‘cult-like’. Starting with the Naked Palette at a price point of $60 at Sephora which continuously sells well, they have expanded the line to the Naked2, Naked3 and now the latest, Naked Heat eyeshadow palette. If you have one of these palettes, you’re in the know and understand the value of how all of the colours blend together. You can purchase the Urban Decay Naked Palette collection here.
4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
One of my favourite palettes for Fall/Winter 2018 this year. I enjoy using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette simply due to the immense colour payoff and easy to blend shades. It also comes with an eyeshadow brush that is rounded at one end and more flat on the other which makes creating new looks easy.
This ABH eyeshadow palette focuses on the berry shades and makes it easy to blend reds and pinks which are the new eyeshadow trends this season. I absolutely love this and will be really sad when I start hitting pan! You can purchase the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette here.
5. Stila ‘Eyes are the Window’ Eyeshadow Palette
This eyeshadow palette has a mix of mattes and shine. It’s a great way to mix up your look with the help of the buildable formula. There are three other eyeshadow palettes by Stila that were made to portray a zen-like element to colour. This palette is ideal for all skin types which I love – the neutral colours and pop of shimmer make for some really pretty combinations especially for nights out! You can buy the Stila Eyes are the Window Shadow Palette here.
Why should you by a cult eyeshadow palette?
Because if you notice one unique identifier that all of these cult eyeshadow palettes have is that the colours are more neutral with pops of drama. The formulas are great and pigmented. Basically, you won’t hate your life if you drop over $60 on one of these babies because you know you’ll use them FOREVER.
